Innovation, data, and strategic management applied to environmental sanitation

The Saneamento Vivo Project (PSV), Decentralized Execution Agreement (TED) No. 977107-01/2025, is a partnership between the Federal University of the São Francisco Valley (UNIVASF), through NIESADT, and the Ministry of Cities (MCID), through the National Secretariat for Sanitation and Housing (SNSH) and the Department of Technical Cooperation (DCOT). It promotes studies and validates environmental sanitation monitoring procedures and technologies through digital platforms and public-policy support, focusing on technical training and Municipal Basic Sanitation Plans (PMSBs).

Mission

We are dedicated to promoting studies and validating procedures and new monitoring technologies for environmental sanitation through digital platforms and the development of public policies, with a focus on technical training and the implementation of Municipal Basic Sanitation Plans (PMSBs).

The Project

The project adopts an innovative, scientific approach, bringing together municipal activities and promoting integration across three strong governance axes. MSGSanear—a set of digital tools and methodologies—enables sanitation sectors to use validated results and data from Petrolina and its municipalities for management. These studies support Municipal Basic Sanitation Plans (PMSBs) and reporting to the federal regulatory and statistical data agency, the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (ANA).
